Patterns, patterns, patterns

This morning we took a walk around the school looking out for different patterns.  Our maths topic for the last 2 weeks of this term is algebra and number so we went on a pattern hunt. Here are some we found.

Each Thursday Steve from Sport Canterbury comes to Sacred Heart to teach the children balancing, ball throwing and catching and movement activities.  We have lots of fun with Steve and always look forward to Thursdays.

Health Expo Day

Fun at the Health Expo day - held my the middle and senior school and visited by children from the junior school.  We learned many ways to stay healthy.  The importance of healthy eating, exercise, cleaning our teeth properly, sleep and so on.  Here we are enjoying our learning.

On Monday we participated in science experiments about floating and sinking.  We learned that an orange floats with the skin on and sinks with the skin off, regular Coca Cola cans sink but diet Coca Cola floats, playdough will sink but an attached pen lid will float to the top.  This session was messy but lots of fun with a lot of learning.
